A market leading global logistics organisation seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Simulation Engineer to join their dynamic team based at Heathrow Airport.
Do you enjoy solving and optimising logistic puzzles?
Are you a communicative analyst who wants to develop his/her technical knowledge in an enthusiastic team?
Their drive is not to simply simulate and confirm that the system meets performance requirements. No, their drive is to always look for the better solution and to develop tools and processes to do so. What can be improved? Where are the bottlenecks? Which system parts are over-designed? How do we optimise for sustainability? Can we challenge the (internal) customer on assumptions, operational parameters, design, processes etc?
Role Responsibilities:
The area you will be working in, focusses on the development of the Airports segment in the EMEA LATAM region (Northern Europe and Middle East). Furthermore, your department supports other customer centres globally on the disciplines of Sales Layout Engineering, Sales Engineering and Sales Consultancy. To accommodate a successful growth and to prepare for future readiness, they are looking for a Simulation Engineer to strengthen their team. As a Junior simulation Engineer, you will conduct studies on the dynamic interaction in - and the logistics performance of - the complex material handling systems sold by Vanderlande.
Your responsibilities and activities will include:
• You will use 3D simulation software to analyse and solve complex logistic problems.
• Involvement with optimisation of the system and identify bottlenecks prior to installation at the customer site.
• Support in developing conceptual improvements to control strategies and provide customers with tailored advice by thinking creatively when developing your simulation model
• After you have gained more experience, your communication skills will enable you to act as a link between the different disciplines involved when working on larger projects.
Role Qualification and Skills
• Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Operational Research, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar.
• Entry level - applications from BSc, MSc and PhD all considered
