A respected global player within financial services has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Data Engineering Manager to lead the Claims Analytics team. As the Senior Data Engineering Manager, your team will be responsible for building market leading data engineering solutions, setting the vision for data architecture, and building cloud based data asset to enable commercial decision making based on rich, robust data. We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer Manager who can lead a well-established high performing team of data engineers, alongside devising and implementing data asset strategies. A key component of this role will be to provide thought leadership on emerging technologies, data architecture, and on the integration of our data asset into everyday activities.
·Manage, develop, and mentor the data engineers in the Claims Analytics team
·Work closely with the data science, insights, and project management pillars to deliver end to end machine learning solutions to business problems
·Define, develop, and roll out the data asset strategy for Claims and the Business
·Implement software developing principles into the data engineer pipelines to ensure all pipelines are automated, robust and have appropriate level of governance
·Provide thought leadership in the data space and influence how data is utilised across the business
·Keep up to speed on latest technology and tools in the data engineering space and ensure these are being effectively utilised to further develop our data asset
·Work closely with all areas of Claims to promote the use and understanding of Big Data, and pro-actively identify opportunities where data engineering can be used to enhance decisions and provide real business benefit
·Be a technical expert in data architecture and engineering and have knowledge on emerging techniques and trends in the industry
Skills and Experience
·Defining target architecture & developing data pipelines in a highly regulated big data environment.
·Significant experience applying data engineering to solve real world problems
·Proven track record of managing high performing teams and developing data engineering talent
·Track record of developing and delivering cloud based data architecture solutions
·Deep knowledge of data engineering and understanding of how to apply it
·Critical and analytical approach to problem structuring
·Solid experience of Big Data Tooling & large datasets
·Experience of delivering production code into live systems
·Familiarity with MS Azure cloud platform would be advantageous.
