Head of Actuarial & Data Science - Hybrid London/East Sussex - £Competitive Package negotiable dep on experience - J12152

They have an exciting job opportunity for a new Head of Actuarial & Data science to lead team of Technical Pricing experts made up of Actuaries & Data Scientists who will drive the ongoing development of technical models and use of machine learning in line with their commercial agenda.

Accountabilities
• Attract, retain, motivate, and manage an excellent team of dedicated and highly qualified actuaries & data scientists.
• Work collaboratively across Underwriting & the wider business to ensure that they achieve their business goals.
• You are responsible for ensuring the controls such that all models are fit for purpose, meeting governance and regulatory standards and these procedures are regularly reviewed and improved.
• Create data & analytical tools to assist analysts in managing their risk portfolio.
• Liaise with stakeholders across the rest of the organisation.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical colleagues ensuring that the business is able to understand how Technical Pricing Models & Data Science can benefit them and improve their effectiveness.
• Mathematical capabilities including probability, statistics, advanced mathematics, and numerical analysis.
• Very strong business acumen with a strong desire to deliver commercial outcomes.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Extensive hands-on experience with predictive modelling in a variety of settings.
• Management experience, overseeing the work of analysts.
• Experience using and managing the work of others using tools such as R, Python, H2O & Emblem.
• Experience in financial services, preferably insurance.
• Experience leading teams in a Pricing or Data Science environment.
• A degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics or any other related quantitative field.
